Edward Alleyn.

In 2004, I entered a competition to create a sculpture of Edward Alleyn, the founder of Dulwich College. My inspiration for this piece was not to use the standard portraits that exist of him as an older man, but to take inspiration from his years as a famous pre-Shakespearian actor. The sculpture is based on an apocryphal event of a child ghost visiting him.

This sculpture was unveiled by Tessa Jowell and can be found in Dulwich Village. The smaller maquette is available for purchase, and also sits in Alleyn’s School. Please fill out a contact form for further information.
